and Rochester.
Located in the heart of Western
NY, Genesee County affords convenient access to Canada,

Comprised
of more than twenty towns and villages, Genesee County
is home to more than 60,000 residents (Census 2000
data). The Tonawanda
Reservation accounts for more than 500 of those
residents. Seneca
Indians occupy the Reservation that operates six
businesses featuring untaxed gasoline and tobacco
products. The Tonawanda
Creek flows through the Reservation to the Niagara
River. Genesee is a Seneca word that means
"good valley".
Batavia,
the seat of Genesee County, is the "Birthplace of
Western NY". The Holland
Land Office Museum features a wealth of historical
exhibits and information concerning the people who
contributed to the development of Genesee County.
Batavia is also home to the flagship campus of the Genesee
Community College and Empire
State College. Genesee County, including Batavia
has a number of quality public and private schools
from which to choose.
Genesee
County is an agriculturally rich region, which
contains the highest concentration of classified
farmland in NY. The area's fertile soil and ideal
climate conditions set the stage to earn Genesee
County three spots among the nation's
top 100 vegetable farms. In addition, Genesee County's
agriculture sales place fourth among NY's markets. Dairy
farming provides the county's primary commodity. At
